Cerebellum Software, Inc., developer of Internet Data Integration (IDI) solutions for bridging e-business applications with corporate data, has announced the availability of Cerebellum eCom Integrator, version 2.1, which speeds the development of e-commerce applications by generating data persistence between Enterprise JavaBean (EJB) component technology and underlying data.

Cerebellum eCom Integrator provides a productive, visual environment for integrating an e-commerce application with back-end data systems, and its features improve the long-term portability of the application to different data sources in the future.

"Many companies are turning to the use of EJB components to shrink e-commerce development cycles, but those components need to be mapped to underlying data sources. Developing those mappings has typically required manual programming - a step that is eliminated by using Cerebellum eCom Integrator," said Todd Olson, chief technology officer of Cerebellum Software.

Cerebellum eCom Integrator allows customers to leverage their existing data systems to develop cutting-edge e-commerce applications. Using the product's graphical interface, developers easily generate a persistence layer between EJB entity bean components and relational, legacy and ERP data sources. As a result, Cerebellum eCom Integrator dramatically extends the mapping capabilities offered by EJB application servers, without requiring additional programming work.

To further improve productivity in e-commerce development, Cerebellum eCom Integrator supports the import of business object models based on UML (unified modeling language), from tools such as Rational Rose. This feature allows simple, point-and-click generation and deployment of EJB entity beans.

Working in concert with most major application servers, Cerebellum eCom Integrator also tightly integrates with the BEA WebLogic Server, SilverStream[R] Application Server and, by the end of 2000, the Bluestone Total-e-Server, sharing key services like database connection pooling, security, transaction services and session management. Cerebellum's technology fills out the next phase of e-business infrastructure, by allowing the development team to easily create a data integration layer for real-time information access across a heterogeneous data environment.

Cerebellum eCom Integrator emerges from the company's flagship product Cerebellum, which was most recently in version 2.0. Also introduced recently is the Cerebellum Portal Integrator, version 2.1, which enables enterprise information portals to deliver unified, real-time access to critical corporate data.
