CERA's 10th Annual Energy Conference in Istanbul to Explore the Challenge of Energy Security.


CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Top business leaders, experts and policymakers from around the world will meet in Istanbul to discuss energy security and how to achieve it in an era of interdependence and geopolitical ge·o·pol·i·tics

 tension. Cambridge Energy Resources Associates (CERA) will host the conference, "East Meets West: New Frontiers of Energy Security," in Istanbul on June 25-27, 2007, along with its Turkish partner DEIK DEIK Dis Ekonomik Iliskiler Kurulu (Foreign Economic Relations Board; Turkey) .

This year, the conference will feature four presidents from this key region - President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, President Mikheil Saakashvili of Georgia, President Ahment Necdet Sezer of Turkey, and President Victor Yushchenko of Ukraine.

"This 10th anniversary of the conference will provide a platform for addressing the major energy issues that face us and how they will be tied together in the future from a supply, financial and an environmental point of view," said Dr. Daniel Yergin, chairman of CERA. "This conference is very timely, as it highlights how resources and markets are becoming intertwined across regions and continents even as geopolitical controversies and anxieties rise."

Held at the global crossroads of Istanbul, the conference will cover the dynamic forces transforming the energy landscape around the world. The agenda includes energy security; the impact of climate change policies on energy supply; the viability of renewable energy sources such as biofuels; access to resources; investment and strategic opportunities; gas supply from Russia, Central Asia, and the Middle East for Europe; and Chinese electric power development.

Keynote speakers will include: H.E.
