CEO and president still all in the family at Lititz Mutual.

Keeping with a tradition of family that has led Lititz Mutual Insurance Co. for more than a century, the company said Henry H. Gibbel was elected chairman and chief executive officer and Henry R. Gibbel was appointed president and chief operating officer.

The Gibbel family has served the company since 1892, just a handful of years after the original Lititz Mutual was formed by Lancaster County residents in Pennsylvania's Amish and Mennonite farmland regions. Henry H. Gibbel has led Lititz Mutual since 1959, and has been president and CEO since 1987. He took over for his father, Henry Baker Gibbel, who succeeded his father, Henry Royer Gibbel, in 1927, according to a company statement.

Clyde W. Horst, who has held the title of chairman since 1987, has retired. He will remain on the board as he has for more than 35 years, the company said.

Henry R. Gibbel has held the posts of corporate secretary, vice president, senior vice president and executive vice president since joining Lititz in 1981.

John R. Gibbel, who has served on the board as vice president since 1957, was re-elected vice president, general counsel and was named corporate secretary.
