"Mustang mustang [Sp. mesteño=a stray], small feral horse of the W United States. Mustangs are descended from escaped Native American horses, which in turn were descended from horses of North African blood, brought to the New World by the Spanish c.1500. Software's focus is on building world class e-mail and web response systems. Our goal is to manage inbound inquiries from the Internet," which he contrasts with Mustang's prior business of modem software and a bulletin board system. He emphasizes the need by citing research showing that "about 30% of the e-mail traffic arriving from a web site is addressed to a department and these inquiries go unanswered. Consumers are not going to trust e-mail as an effective means of communications with these types of results. This is the equivalent of somebody calling in to your company, and you never answer the phone. This is not a viable business model." He continues, "As companies become more and more aware of the need to put management systems in place to deal with inbound e-mail inquiries, they'll look for solutions like our Internet Message Center product." Asked about Mustang's clients for this product, Harrer replied, "Our customers today include The Microsoft Network See MSN.
