CENiX Announces Plans for Design and Assembly Facility in Allentown.

ALLENTOWN, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 12, 2000

CENiX Inc., a startup optoelectronics See optoelectronic.  company that recently received $25.5 million in funding from an investor group led by prominent Silicon Valley venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins, Tuesday announced plans to build a new 43,600 square-foot design and assembly facility in Allentown.

Construction is underway on the new building, which is located at 7360 Windsor Drive in Allentown. Completion and occupancy are scheduled for June 2001. The facility will house new state-of-the-art automated au·to·mate

The property is being developed by Brandywine Realty Trust Brandywine Realty Trust (NYSE: BDN) is a real estate development trust (REIT) in the United States that buys, sells, leases and manages approximately 225 commercial properties, no more than 25 industrial parcels of land, mixed-use property, and over 200 acres of undeveloped  of Newtown Square, Pa. on a long-term lease agreement with CENiX Inc. Ondra-Huyett Associates Inc. of Allentown is construction manager.

The building is designed to accommodate an expansion from 43,600 to 64,600 square feet. Initial employment is estimated to be 60 employees at the time of occupancy, with up to 100 projected by year-end 2001.

Since its formation in July 2000, CENiX has grown from five to 50 employees, with 35 professionals locally and another 15 at its product development and marketing office in Irvine, Calif. The company is presently recruiting to fill additional technical positions.

The company's initial focus is on the development and production of a new generation of high-speed optoelectronic interface that is 75 percent smaller than current discrete versions and includes significantly higher functionality and performance characteristics along with lower power utilization. Customers include all makers of voice and data network infrastructure equipment.
