CENTRAL PARKING CORPORATION AWARDED CONTRACT TO MANAGE ONSTREET PARKING IN CHARLOTTE.

:PK) ("Central Parking") today announced that it has been awarded a contract to manage a new on-street parking program for Charlotte, North Carolina “Charlotte” redirects here. For other uses, see Charlotte (disambiguation).
Charlotte is the largest city in the state of North Carolina and the 20th largest city in the United States.

The contract represents the first major municipal parking program in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  to be entirely privatized. Terms of the contract were not announced, but the services to be provided include parking enforcement, meter collections, ticket processing and dissemination of public information. Monroe Carell, Jr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, remarked, "The basic goal for this landmark contract is implementation of a parking program that facilitates the continued growth and development of uptown Charlotte and adjacent commercial areas. The initial phase of our work will be to determine the optimal mix of metered and non-metered parking as well as the appropriate rates and related degree of enforcement that will be required. An important emphasis will be managing this program in a consistent, customer-friendly manner. We intend to communicate this priority clearly both in the initial information distributed about the program and in its execution."
