 CENTERLINE SOFTWARE'S NEW OBJECTCENTER 2.0 UNIX C++ PROGRAMMING
 ENVIRONMENT DRIVES INDUSTRY'S MIGRATION FROM C TO C++
 CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- CenterLine(tm) Software, Inc., today announced ObjectCenter(tm) 2.0, a major upgrade of its industry-leading UNIX(R) C++ programming environment.
 ObjectCenter 2.0 is a C and C++ mixed-language development environment which provides software development organizations currently programming in C a pragmatic migration path to C++ and object-oriented programming. It brings software development organizations spanning many industries, including telecommunications, commercial software development and financial services, the benefits of object-oriented programming -- rapid prototyping, software reusability and increased modularity -- without sacrificing their investments in C.
 "The benefits of C++ and object-oriented programming are rapidly being recognized outside of advanced technology groups and research laboratories," said Torsten Ek, product marketing manager, C++ Technologies, CenterLine Software. "Moving large production projects to the C++ language requires a clear, safe and incremental migration path that allows users to protect their investments in C code. ObjectCenter 2.0 provides that migration path, and its superior compilation speed and scalability also ensure sustained productivity as users' programs and reusable software libraries grow."
 ObjectCenter 2.0 supports all day-to-day activities of software engineers and development teams including prototyping, design, coding, testing, deployment and maintenance. Seamless Transition from C to C++
 ObjectCenter 2.0 offers a C and C++ mixed-language development capability that allows incremental adoption of C++ and the preservation of C code. In addition to advanced C++ development capabilities, it includes the full range of C development capabilities found in CenterLine's industry-leading UNIX C programming environment, CodeCenter(tm). Fast Compilation Through Pre-Compilation of Header Files
 ObjectCenter 2.0 now includes the fastest C++ compiler available, CenterLine-C++(tm), which provides revolutionary improvements to code compilation speed.
 As the only product to offer pre-compilation of header files on UNIX, ObjectCenter offers significantly faster compilation speed than any competing programming environment, allowing users to develop real- world C++ applications with record-breaking productivity.
 Software reuse in C++ requires programmers to work with very large libraries of components, which is extremely resource intensive, and results in very slow compiles. Through the pre-compilation of header files, ObjectCenter 2.0 is the first programming environment that helps users overcome this major barrier to software reuse in C++. Additional Enhancements
 Object Center 2.0 offers additional major enhancements that dramatically increase programmer productivity and software quality. These include advanced support for C++ templates, demand-driven generation for scalability to large C++ applications, enhanced debugging, fast object-code run-time error checking, advanced dynamic code and data visualization capabilities and support for both the OPENLOOK(tm) and Motif(tm) interfaces.
 ObjectCenter 2.0, available on the SUN-4(tm)/SPARC(R) workstations from Sun Microsystems and the HP Apollo 9000 Series 700 PA-RISC workstations from Hewlett-Packard, will ship early first quarter 1993. It is priced at $3,995 in the U.S. Volume workgroup and educational discounts are available.
 CenterLine Software, Inc., a privately held corporation headquartered in Cambridge, Mass., is the leading independent provider of C++ and C software development products for UNIX workstations. By focusing on the everyday needs of developers, CenterLine applies innovative technologies to products that enable significant improvements in software quality and developer productivity.
