CEMEX Recognized for Environmental Excellence; CEMEX Navigation Plant in Houston Earns Prestigious National Award.


HOUSTON -- CEMEX CEMEX Cementos Mexicanos  Inc., the nation's largest producer of cement cement, binding material used in construction and engineering, often called hydraulic cement, typically made by heating a mixture of limestone and clay until it almost fuses and then grinding it to a fine powder. , ready-mix and concrete products, today announced that it has received a National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA NRMCA National Ready-Mixed Concrete Association ) 2006 Environmental Excellence Award for Category C facilities (more than 100,000 cubic yards annually). Houston (pronounced /'hjuːstən/) is the largest city in the state of Texas and the
 received Honorable Mention. This is the fourth award won by CEMEX's Houston Ready Mix facilities in the past two years.

Other CEMEX facilities in Houston that have won environmental awards are the Katy and Cutten Plants. In 2005, The Katy Plant won a First Place NRMCA Environmental Excellence Award for Category B facilities (50,000 - 100,000 cubic yards of annual production). Also in 2005, the Cutten Plant won First Place in Category C (more than 100,000 cubic yards of annual production) and First Place in the Comeback Comeback
