CEMEX Receives Consents From Holders of Its 9.625% Notes Due 2009.

MONTERREY, N.L., Mexico--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 18, 2002

CEMEX CEMEX Cementos Mexicanos , S.A. de C.V. ("CEMEX") announced today that it has received consents from holders representing a majority of the principal amount of its 9.625% Notes due 2009 (the "Notes") authorizing certain proposed amendments to the indenture governing the Notes.

In accordance with CEMEX's Consent Solicitation Statement, dated April 4, 2002, CEMEX expects to pay to the Depositary on April 22, 2002 for the benefit of holders of Notes who have consented prior to the Consent Expiration Time a consent payment of U.S.$5.00 per $1,000 principal amount of Notes.
