our commitment to the industry. When we acquired Southdown last year, we inherited their long standing commitment to leadership in the U.S. cement industry. The World of Concrete is also an excellent opportunity to show our customers how we are combining CEMEX's skills, technology, and global resources with Southdown's knowledge of the U.S. market to create a dynamic, new force in the U.S. industry."

In November 2000, CEMEX acquired Southdown, becoming one of the three largest cement producers in the United States and enhancing its position as the third largest global producer.

"I believe that active industry promotion is good for our business and good for our customers," said Mr. Clarence Comer, President of CEMEX's U.S. Operations and former President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. By combining the best of CEMEX with the best of Southdown, we will be able to offer more products and services to more customers in the United States, with greater reliability and consistency," concluded Mr. Garza.
