CEM Announces the Opening of Microwave Chemistry Division in India.

MATTHEWS, N.C. -- CEM Corporation, a leading provider of microwave laboratory instrumentation, is pleased to announce that it is opening a Microwave Chemistry Division in India in partnership with the Company's distributor, Niulab Equipment Company. Though microwave chemistry has been utilized to a limited degree by some early adapters of the technology in India, the objective of the new division will be to further the introduction of microwave chemistry to a much wider segment of the Indian market, including academic and commercial laboratories using chemical synthesis, biochemistry, and analytical sample preparation, as well as manufacturing companies in need of rapid process and quality control.

"India's scientific community is growing rapidly and many of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies either have laboratory facilities in the country or outsource to Indian companies. Our relationships with Niulab and some of the top chemists using microwave technology in India and give us a unique understanding of the market and its needs," said Michael J. "We are already strongly positioned in the rest of Asia and this new division will enable us to further extend our market penetration in India, as well."

CEM and Niulab will offer the full line of CEM microwave-based systems, applications expertise, and technical support. The division has assembled a team of four chemists experienced with microwave technology and is looking to hire a fifth in the near future. The team is expected to expand to 10 members over the next two years. With the rapid growth in synthetic chemistry and drug discovery research in leading universities and commercial labs, CEM's new Microwave Chemistry Division will be an important resource for the latest information.
