FORMER Celtic star Magnus Hedman Magnus Hedman (born March 19, 1973 in Huddinge) is a Swedish football (soccer) goalkeeper who has retired from professional football. He has played 58 matches for the Sweden national football team, and represented his country at two FIFA World Cup and two European Championship  has been arrested after a drugs raid on his car.

The Swedish goalkeeper was charged with having an illegal substance and drink driving after police swooped at a petrol station.

If convicted he could face a six-month prison sentence.

Hedman is understood to be denying the charges.

An insider said: "There is likely to be a trial this year but Magnus is denying any wrongdoing.

"Magnus says he is shocked by it all but says if the police found drugs he doesn't know how they got there.

"He has returned to work and is carrying on with his life as normal." Swedish prosecutors confirmed the charges against the former international keeper on Friday.

Hedman's Mercedes was raided on Wednesday in Stockholm.

Drugs were alleged to have been found inside a pair of trousers in the vehicle. Police have not specified what the substance was.

Hedman, 36, signed for Celtic when Martin O'Neill paid Coventry City more than pounds 1million for him in 2002 and he left after three years.
