 powerbroker Dermot Desmond Dermot Desmond (born 1950, Cork, Ireland) is regarded as one of Ireland's most successful entrepreneurs. He is estimated to be worth €2.121 billion and is ranked 5th on the Irish Rich List and 746 among 'The World's Richest People'.  last night claimed a move to England is "inevitable".

Majority shareholder at Celtic Park, Desmond believes the Scottish champions will join the English Premier League within 10 years.

"They will open up some time to us but I would think it could be in the next 10 years,'' he said.

Given the financial difficulties facing many Premier League teams, the idea of inviting Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers south to help generate more broadcasting revenue has been a hot topic of discussion recently.

Billionaire Desmond, Ireland's fourth-richest man, said Celtic remain financially sound unlike some top-flight English sides.

"We have no debt. We are probably one of the most independent clubs in the whole of Great Britain and Ireland Great Britain and Ireland are the two largest islands in the British Isles. A former state, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, was composed of the political union of the two. ,'' he added.

"Ten or 11 clubs will go into administration. I would not be surprised if three or four go into administration in the Premier League.'' He also claimed clubs should now cap their spending to bolster their bottom line..
