 ARE SHORTLISTED FOR INDIAN GSM CELLULAR LICENSES
 NEW YORK, July 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Cellular Communications International, Inc. (NASDAQ: CCIL) (CCII) announced today that it has been reported that its Indian joint venture company, Sterling Cellular Ltd., has been selected as one of 14 applicants (from an original list of approximately 30) to participate in the second phase of applying for one of the GSM digital cellular licenses being offered by the Indian government for the cities of Bombay, Delhi, Madras and Calcutta. The combined population of these cities is approximately 27 million.
 CCII's President and Chief Executive Officer, William B. Ginsberg, stated, "We are excited by the prospect of building a new cellular business in India and we look forward to the second phase of the government's selection process."
 Sterling Cellular Ltd. is an Indian company owned 50 percent by CCII and 50 percent by Sterling Computers Ltd. of Madras, a manufacturer and distributor of computers and peripheral equipment. Sterling Cellular Ltd. was established in march 1992, for the purpose of developing new wireless communications business opportunities in India.
 CCII was distributed to the shareholders of Cellular Communications, Inc. in July 1991. (Prior to that time, it was wholly owned subsidiary of Cellular Communications, Inc.) CCII's activities focus on acquiring ownership interests in mobile communications systems outside of the United States in partnership with other companies.
