CELL-PHONE CALL BRINGS MOUNTAIN RESCUE.

GORMAN - A Kern County sheriff's helicopter crew rescued a surveyor stranded in a remote section of the Tehachapi Mountains Te·hach·a·pi Mountains

Patterson was treated by Kern County Fire Department personnel for minor exhaustion, Baker said.

Patterson kept the vehicle on the road, but its right front wheel was damaged and it got stuck in sand, deputies said. Patterson tried to hike up the hill but became exhausted, so he called for help on his cell phone and provided coordinates from his Global Positioning Satellite receiver.
