CELEBRITIES TO PITCH IN AT CHARITY BALLGAME.

LANCASTER -- Celebrities will play in an Aug. 6 charity softball softball, variant of baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. The softball contest will go from 1 to 4 p.m., with a pregame ceremony kicking off the event at 12:30 p.m. A silent auction and prize drawings will be conducted during the game.

The list of celebrities playing in the event will be released in July, JetHawks officials said.

Proceeds will benefit the Jeremy Rourke Foundation and National Foundation Against Violence in Youth Sports. The foundation was created by Brian Rourke after 15-year-old Jeremy was killed April 12, 2005, at a Palmdale baseball field by a 13-year-old boy who hit him in the head with a baseball bat.

Tickets for the event cost $10 and include entry to the softball game and the night's Lancaster JetHawks game against the Lake Elsinore Storm The Lake Elsinore Storm are a minor league baseball team in Lake Elsinore, California, USA. They are a "high-A" class team in the California League, and are a farm team of the San Diego Padres. . Tickets can be purchased at the JetHawks' box office at Clear Channel Stadium or over the phone at (661) 273-9778.
