CELEBRATION ON THE SPAN 2-LANE BRIDGE WIDENING IS NOW FINISHED.

SAUGUS -- Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  and Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County officials cut the ribbon on a two-lane expansion of the Bouquet Canyon bridge Wednesday, celebrating the completion of the two-year, $5.5 million project.

 between Soledad Canyon Soledad Canyon is a long narrow canyon / valley located in Los Angeles County, California between the cities of Palmdale and Santa Clarita. Soledad Canyon contains the localities of Vincent, Acton, Ravenna, and Agua Dulce.  and Newhall Ranch roads. The project widened the existing bridge from six lanes to eight, which should smooth the transition of traffic through Bouquet Junction, city officials said.

According to Santa Clarita city spokeswoman Gail Ortiz, $4.5 million of the funding came from the Federal Highway Administration The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is a division of the United States Department of Transportation that specializes in highway transportation. The agency's major activities are grouped into two "programs," The Federal-aid Highway Program and the Federal Lands Highway  and the balance from the city and Los Angeles County.

``This is a great amenity for the people of Saugus and pretty much everybody who goes through this area,'' she said, noting that the bridge is part of the most highly traveled intersection in the city.

``We've also added a protected off-street bike trail and walkway,'' Ortiz said.

The Newhall Land and Farming Company The Newhall Land and Farming Company is a land management company based in Valencia, California, United States. The company is responsible for the master community planning of Valencia, as well as the management of farm land elsewhere in the state.  helped pay for the trail, she said.
