CELEBRATING DIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL HERITAGE FESTIVAL ON TAP FOR SATURDAY.

Any member of the various aboriginal peoples of the Western Hemisphere, with the exception of the Eskimos (Inuit) and the Aleuts.
 dancing and listen to Filipino songs at the 10th annual Antelope Valley International Heritage Festival.

Sponsored by the cities of Lancaster and Palmdale and organized by a committee representing local ethnic organizations, the picnic is intended to promote awareness and appreciation of the different cultures that exist locally under the theme ``diversity is our strength.''

, and we all go to our separate churches, but when it comes to the good of America, it's all of us,'' Vice Mayor Henry Hearns said at a City Hall press conference Wednesday.

The festival runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Lancaster City Park, 43011 10th St. W. Admission is free.

The festival starts with a parade through the park by participants dressed in the clothing of their ancestral ANCESTRAL. What relates to or has, been done by one's ancestors; as homage ancestral, and the like.  lands.

Visitors can sample free food that will include Chinese, Filipino, Indian and Korean styles, as well as hot dogs. Dance groups will include Chinese lion dancers, Antelope Valley Intertribal in·ter·tri·bal

 Council dancers, Japanese dancers and possibly Aztec-style dancers, said festival chairwoman Angel Rice.

``This is a day-long event providing residents an opportunity to appreciate and share different cultures and traditions through dance, art, music and food,'' Rice said.

A 3-on-3 basketball tournament for boys ages 8-16 and a 1-on-1 volleyball volleyball, outdoor or indoor ball and net game played on a level court. An upright net, 3 ft (or 1 m) high, the top of which stands 8 ft (2.43 m) from the ground for men, 7 ft 4 1/8 in (2.  tournament for girls ages 8-16 will start at 9 a.m. at the park, said Wendell Bates Bates   , Katherine Lee 1859-1929.

Competitors can sign up before 9 a.m. at the park. Boys should come organized as three-man teams, he said.

Last year's festival won a California California (kăl'ĭfôr`nyə), most populous state in the United States, located in the Far West; bordered by Oregon (N), Nevada and, across the Colorado River, Arizona (E), Mexico (S), and the Pacific Ocean (W).  Parks and Recreation Society award for regional recreation/community services partnerships.
