, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 14, 1997--Celcore, Inc. announced today that it has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract by Total Access Communications (TAC 1. TAC - Translator Assembler-Compiler. For Philco 2000.

) to expand its cellular network in Thailand.

TAC, listed in the Singapore Stock Exchange, operates a nationwide cellular system in Thailand, as well as the first PCN-1800 network in Asia. Further, TAC holds licenses and anticipates operating cellular networks in other Southeast Asian countries.

Under the contract, Celcore will supply its GlobalSwitch(TM) mobile switching centers, GlobalCell(TM) AMPS base stations, GlobalHub(TM) IS-41 application processors, and Network Management System as well as operational and support training. In addition, Celcore's modular and flexible system architecture allows customized interface modifications to the standard systems enabling seamless integration to the existing TAC operational environment such as network management, billing and PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) The worldwide voice telephone network. Once only an analog system, the heart of most telephone networks today is all digital. In the U.S.  interconnect. The contract consists of an order for five systems initially with options for five additional systems.

With an advanced distributed architecture, the Celcore network provides superior cost benefits over a traditional centralized approach in low traffic density markets. By distributing compact and modular switching systems throughout the coverage area, operators can reduce overall capital investments and lower backhauling and transmissions costs.

"The cost-effectiveness of the Celcore distributed architecture, with its ease of deployment makes it a logical choice for TAC as we expand our wireless coverage to rural, low-traffic areas in Thailand," said Poosana Premanoch, Chief Operating Officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)
