CED Announces Updates to Venture Workshops.


Two-Part Program to Give Early Stage Entrepreneurs Tools to Pursue Venture Capital and Long-Term Success

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK Research Triangle Park, research, business, medical, and educational complex situated in central North Carolina. Named for the triangle formed by Duke Univ. , N.C. -- The Council for Entrepreneurial Development has altered the dates of its new program, Venture Capital for Entrepreneurs, which is a two-part program to provide knowledge and resources to early stage entrepreneurs who want to attract funding for or grow their venture-backed company.

, will take place on November 29 (Session 1) and January 16 (Session 2).

Session 1, "Venture Capital Reality - Matching Company Goals with VC Strategies", will take place on Thursday, November 29, and will explore the characteristics of venture-backed companies; formation and founder matters; protecting and commercializing intellectual property; and preparing the pitch to investors.

Session 2, "The Art of VC Relationships - From Deal Structure to Board Seats", will take place Wednesday, January 16, 2008, and will cover venture economics and valuation; choosing an investor; understanding term sheets; and "life as a venture-backed company".

Both sessions will run from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will be held at the N.C. Biotechnology Center, located at 15 T.W. Alexander Drive in Research Triangle Park, N.C. The workshops are supported by Hutchison Law Group, Hughes Pittman Gupton LLP LLP - Lower Layer Protocol , NC Biotechnology Center, Square 1 Bank, and RTI International RTI International was established in 1958 as Research Triangle Institute, the founding tenant of North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park. RTI was founded as part of a larger effort to harness the intellectual capital of the area’s three major universities— North .

Pre-registration is strong recommended due to limited space availability. CED members may attend one session for $45 or both sessions for $65; non-CED members may attend one session for $60 or both sessions for $90. CED offers online registration at www.cednc.org/ventureseries.
