CEATEC JAPAN 2006 Opens Its Doors Tomorrow.


Comprehensive Exhibition of Cutting-Edge IT & Electronics

TOKYO -- The CEATEC CEATEC Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies (Technology and Electronics Exhibition, Japan)  JAPAN Organizing Committee announced today that CEATEC JAPAN 2006, a comprehensive exhibition of cutting-edge IT and electronics, will open at Makuhari Messe Makuhari Messe (幕張メッセ|  in Chiba Prefecture Chiba Prefecture (千葉県 Chiba-ken  for the 5-day period from October 3 to 7. The event will be held under the sponsorship of the Communications and Information network Association of Japan (CIAJ CIAJ Communications and Information Network Association of Japan ), the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association The Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (社団法人電子情報産業協会  (JEITA JEITA Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (merger of JEIDA and EIAJ) ) and the Computer Software Association of Japan (CSAJ CSAJ Computer Software Association of Japan ).

The theme of CEATEC JAPAN 2006 Co Digital Convergence Changing Society, Lifestyles and Business Co reflects the new industries and markets being realized through the coming together of computers and home appliances, and of broadcasting and communications. Digital convergence represents the process of new industry and market creation, under which a multitude of standalone technologies, products, industries and markets increasingly share common elements through the medium of digital.

The role of CEATEC JAPAN in the 21st century has been to convey the latest information from the IT and electronics industries and to introduce technologies, products and services offering new value while capturing the essentials of the convergence of imaging, information and communications. As the source of today's cutting-edge information on digital convergence, Japan is also on the verge On the Verge (or The Geography of Yearning) is a play written by Eric Overmyer. It makes extensive use of esoteric language and pop culture references from the late nineteenth century to 1955.  of changing society, lifestyles and business styles, and creating new industries and markets around the world.

The seventh CEATEC JAPAN show will be held against this backdrop of convergence.

ua Exhibition Scale

On opening day of CEATEC JAPAN 2006, 807 companies and other organizations, including 283 from 26 countries and regions worldwide, will exhibit in 2,936 booths. Reflecting the many advancements taking place as a result of digital convergence, the number of participants will surpass that of CEATEC JAPAN 2005, when 788 exhibitors, including 293 from 28 countries and regions outside Japan, operated 2,775 booths.

Show organizers are forecasting that the total number of visitors will surpass 200,000, setting a new record.

ua Highly Topical Keynote Speeches

This year's show offers a series of Keynote Speeches by top industry executives and opinion leaders. The program will kick off on Tuesday, October 3, with a speech by Mr. Eric B. Kim Eric B. In addition to Keynote Speeches, this year's CEATEC JAPAN Conference looks to be richer in content than any previous show, with 140 sessions scheduled. The Advance Session will introduce electronics and IT trends, while Special Sessions will be held covering a variety of themes. Specialized topics will also be covered in seminars in the Software & Solutions Track, Information Systems Track and Communications Network Track. This year's Special Sessions include the China Forum, which will be held under themes including economic, investment and technology information in Tianjin, Qingdao, Yantai and Dalian. One of the Trend Sessions scheduled for the conference is an RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) A data collection technology that uses electronic tags for storing data. In this year's Digital Network Stage, the Home & Personal Zone, which includes digital home appliances and related products, will feature the Platform Business Arena, an exhibit focused on the networking of home information appliances. Another highlight will be the Information Daikokai Consortium Project (Uncharted Waters of Information Consortium Project), which will center on search technologies and user interfaces as the keys to the digital society of the future. Net Kaden 2006 (Networked Home Appliances 2006) will promote consumer awareness of home information appliances and services, and "Expanding Digital! Catch the Future Hall" will introduce new broadcasting developments centering on Super Hi-Vision technology.

Various other information-packed special programs are being planned, including the Ubiquitous Network Symposium 2006 Showcase, where visitors will be able to see the achievements of research projects related to ubiquitous networks by participating companies, universities and research institutions. Special exhibits such as the HATS PLAZA, Accessibility Plaza and RFID (radio-frequency identification) PLAZA will highlight the services, solutions and new business styles being realized by information and communications technologies.

ua Electronic Components and Devices Sustaining Technological Revolution

The theme of the Electronic Components, Devices & Industrial Equipment Stage will be "Electronic Components and Devices: The Springboard of Monozukuri Innovation" (monozukuri: product creation). This Stage will shine the spotlight on Japan's technological might, with information and programs designed to help exhibitors and visitors realize new business opportunities. ua Promoting Cross-Sector Collaboration and New Generations of Talent

In the "Cross-Sector Interchange Pavilion," students doing research in universities will have the chance to exchange technology information with representatives from industry. The Pavilion will house the "intebro" student Internet broadcasting station, as well as members of research laboratories from 38 universities. This program is designed to encourage up-and-coming talent to reach new heights. In addition, CEATEC JAPAN 2006 will also offer a new program, called the Product Design Forum, as an opportunity for industry and academia to reaffirm the importance of product design and the need to foster the skills and motivation of new engineers.

Children and "kids at heart" can look forward to the Juniors & Kids Electronics Workshop on Saturday, October 7. This popular CEATEC JAPAN attraction gives children and their parents the chance to experience the fun of "monozukuri."
