CEATEC JAPAN 2006 Deploying New Mobile Business Card System for Event Management.


TOKYO -- The CEATEC CEATEC Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies (Technology and Electronics Exhibition, Japan)  JAPAN Management Office announced that it will deploy a trial version of a new visitor entry and management system using mobile phones at CEATEC JAPAN 2006, to be held from Tuesday, October 3, to Saturday, October 7, at Makuhari Messe Makuhari Messe (幕張メッセ|  in Chiba Prefecture Chiba Prefecture (千葉県 Chiba-ken , Japan.

The system will start for users of NTT DoCoMo (NTT Mobile Communications Network, Inc., Japan) Founded in 1991, NTT DoCoMo is a spinoff of Japan's NTT (Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation) which provides wireless services, including cellular, paging, satellite and maritime and in-flight telephone services.  "Osaifu-Keitai" handsets incorporating contactless Felica IC chips. The organizers plan to extend coverage to other carriers' handsets employing such chips.

The system will employ business card information that CEATEC JAPAN visitors pre-register on the Web. Visitors will use the Mobile Business Card Application to easily encrypt See encryption.  and store data on their handsets.

At the CEATEC JAPAN site, a special reader will identify the data on the mobile phones and issue entry badges, thereby streamlining entrance to the show, as well as to forums, seminars, and other events.

At exhibition booths with special readers, visitors will also be able to automatically transfer their business card information, removing the need to provide paper cards and facilitating business communications.

The new system is also secure and convenient for visitors, as their business card information can be deleted from their handsets before leaving the show.
