CEA Announces Multi-Room Audio Wiring Standard with User-Friendly Installation Guidelines; Standard Available for Limited Time at 30 Percent Discount.

ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) Technology & Standards Department today announced the availability of the Multi-Room Audio Cabling Standard (CEA-2030). This standard provides guidelines for the building community on how to install wiring for audio entertainment throughout the home.

Issued by CEA's Audio Systems Committee, the new standard was achieved in record time - just six months after the initial meeting - and is being made available at a 30 percent reduced rate for the next six months via Global Engineering Documents at http://global.ihs.com.

"This new multi-room audio standard addresses a clear need within the builder community for simple, straightforward guidelines on incorporating wiring throughout a new home or remodeling project," said Peter Hoagland, representative of ELAN and BG and chair of CEA's Multi-Room Audio Video Council (MRAV). "MRAV members recognized builders' strong interest in incorporating multi-room audio, but before this standard, builders had no guidelines to follow. The new CEA standard provides them with a road map for growing their profits through a new feature to most homeowners, multi-room audio."

According to CEA Market Research, approximately five percent of homebuilders offer multi-room audio as an option in their new home packages. Hoagland said that figure is expected to grow exponentially in the years ahead, largely aided by the new standard's guidelines.
