CE Software announces NameServer Database Distribution Utility; Eliminating manual updates for multiple LAN QuickMail NameServers.

WEST DES MOINES West Des Moines (də moin`), city (1990 pop. 31,702), Polk co., S central Iowa, a growing suburb W of Des Moines; inc. 1893 as Valley Junction, renamed 1938. ) application. NSDD automates the exporting and importing of an organization's master QuickMail NameServer data across the Local Area Network (LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used. ) to other QuickMail NameServers.

"Ensuring that every directory within an organization has accurate and up-to-date information is critical," said Ford Goodman, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of CE Software. "NSDD streamlines the entire updating process ensuring that it doesn't break down by something as simple as a single administrator missing the new database information, resulting in the dissemination of incorrect information for hundreds of users."

Export And Import Database Information Automatically

Most medium to large sized organizations maintain a central NameServer into which all names and addresses are imported. In many instances the database is exported manually, and mailed via QuickMail to system administrators. The administrators then manually import the new information into the other NameServers. A time consuming process that is completely dependent on the cooperation and availability of the administrator.

With NSDD an administrator simply designates a master NameServer Database, and installs the NSDD receiving software on all recipient machines. When the master database in updated, it automatically exports and imports its NameServer data into the other NameServers throughout the company. QuickMail is used as the transport agent between NameServers.
