CE Software Announces QuickMail Pro; Company Unveils New POP E-mail Client Software.


BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 5, 1996--CE Software today announced QuickMail Pro -- a new Internet See Web 2.0 and Internet2.  E-mail client Same as e-mail program.  software offering for Macintosh and Windows operating systems Operating systems can be categorized by technology, ownership, licensing, working state, usage, and by many other characteristics. In practice, many of these groupings may overlap.  supporting the Internet Post Office Protocol, version 3 (POP3).

QuickMail Pro is the first in a series of Internet products the company will add to its product family over the next six months. CE Software anticipates a fall ship date for QuickMail Pro.

Connectivity from the Office, Road or Home

The QuickMail Pro client will fit any situation. Whether users are in the office, on the road, or at home they will be able to send and receive messages from QuickMail Pro. The QuickMail Pro client will leverage the standard TCP/IP TCP/IP

For increased cost savings, users will even be able to send and receive messages by dialing-up via Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) The most popular method for transporting IP packets over a serial link between the user and the ISP. Developed in 1994 by the IETF and superseding the SLIP protocol, PPP establishes the session between the user's computer and the ISP using ) and Serial Line Interface Protocol (S/LIP). QuickMail Pro will include the key features currently available in CE Software's QuickMail 3.6 offering.

QuickMail LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  

CE Software's traditional QuickMail product line will continue to provide E-mail users the highest level of functionality available in LAN-based, MacOS messaging. The only difference will be that the application will now be known as QuickMail LAN. Integration with, and migration to, QuickMail Pro from QuickMail LAN will be seamless.

Announcement Plans

CE Software will ship QuickMail Pro for Windows and MacOS users this fall. QuickMail Pro server announcements will be made within the coming months. QuickMail Pro will have a suggested retail price of $69.95 for 1 a user pak, $279.95 for 5 a user pak, $499.95 for a 10 user pak, $949.95 for a 25 user pak, $1,849.95 for a 50 user pak and $3,449.95 for a 100 user pak.
