CDW-G and the Alliance for Young Artist & Writers Partner to Recognize Students in the Visual and Literary Arts.

VERNON HILLS, Ill. & NEW YORK -- CDW Government, Inc. For 83 years, The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have acknowledged and celebrated the outstanding achievements of more than 13 million young artists and writers in the visual and literary arts. These awards validate the talents of the creative workforce of the future before a national audience. Last year, young artists and writers in the Chicago metro area entered nearly 2,000 submissions with 18 pieces of art and writing receiving national awards from the Alliance.

Students in the Chicago metro area, near CDW-G headquarters, participate in The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards by sending entries directly to the national office. But now, with increased awareness and support, Chicago is ready to support a Regional Affiliate. Regional Affiliates consist of community-based partners that conduct their own local exhibitions of student artwork and readings of student writing. Currently, there are ninety regional affiliates, serving thirty-seven states.

"With nearly 2,000 submissions last year, the City of Chicago is a great starting point to bolster awareness and participation of the awards program and become a Regional Affiliate," said Chris Rother, CDW-G vice president of education sales. "Working with the Alliance, we hope to increase participation, especially in Chicago's public schools, providing more artists and writers with creative support and opportunities for national recognition. National Award recipients attend a ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City and a series of workshops with professionals in the art and literary industries. In addition, the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. will display their work. Plus, CDW-G will offer a top high school senior a scholarship to continue creative development."
