Under a series of delivery orders, CDW-G will configure hardware and software, as well as manage staged deployment for more than 35,000 systems to commands across the Air Force in more than 180 locations worldwide. At the completion of all staged deployments, revenue from the award is expected to exceed $38 million.

Beyond configuration and shipping, CDW-G provides the Air Force with a series of value-added services in response to unique specifications. Prior to delivery, CDW-G assembles and configures system components such as common access card (CAC See Consumer Advisory Council. ) readers, removable hard drive cages, additional memory and mass storage devices. Further, CDW-G supplies custom software imaging for machines acquired under the contract, installing a variety of application profiles prior to delivery to minimize assembly and integration at the end-user site.

"With numerous operational and technology requirements, the Air Force needs a partner that can deliver a broad range of technology solutions with speed and cost efficiency," said Jim Shanks, CDW-G president. "CDW-G has a proven track record of providing rapid delivery of best-in-class technologies in addition to configuration, assembly and hard drive imaging to speed the integration at the end-user location. The net result for the Air Force is a higher return on technology investment and reduced time to implementation."

CDW-G achieves this high level of responsiveness by working with leading IT companies to deliver more than 100,000 products, including top IT brands from over 1,400 manufacturers. Coupled with over 24,000 square feet of ISO (1) See ISO speed.

About the Quarterly Enterprise Buy (QEB)

The QEB enables the Air Force to centralize the purchase of common hardware and software products as part of an ongoing effort to streamline purchases and ensure system interoperability. The contract mandates that purchases of desktop and notebook computers must be processed through the Air Force's nine major commands and requires that officials consolidate hardware buys using the AFWay online procurement system to obtain optimal pricing. The Headquarters Standard Systems Group has implemented a data collection tool to facilitate collection of mainstream desktop, laptop and monitor requirements at the unit level from across the Air Force. Information taken from the data collection tool is then used to execute a consolidated technology purchase at the end of the quarter.
