Cologne -- The German bishops, headed by Cardinal Joachim Meisner of Cologne, have issued a sharp criticism of the Christian Democratic party This is a list of Christian Democratic parties, i.e. political parties that are part of the Christian Democratic movement and advocate policies based on the principles of Christian Democracy.  and its Bavarian counterpart, the Christian Social Union Christian Social Union (CSU)
