To be held on November 3, 2009, at Battelle Memorial Institute The Battelle Memorial Institute is a private not-for-profit applied science and technology development company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. The institute opened in 1929 but traces its origins to the 1923 will of Ohio industrialist Gordon Battelle which provided for its , Columbus, OH, the course will explore organic color pigments. Serving as an instructor will be Romesh Kumar, of Clariant. Dr. Kumar will discuss the application of various chemistries for coatings, inks, and plastics. In addition, the course will cover inorganic color pigment pigment, substance that imparts color to other materials. In paint, the pigment is a powdered substance which, when mixed in the liquid vehicle, imparts color to a painted surface. chemistries and their uses. Also presenting will be David Story, from BASF BASF Bar Association of San Francisco (since 1872; San Francisco, California) BASF Badische Anilin und Soda Fabrik (German chemical products company) BASF Builders Association of South Florida , who will discuss IR heat reflective pigments. The course is free to CDIC members; $75 for nonmembers, and a discounted registration of $30 will be offered for members of other Societies.
