CDI is a certified recycler and will ensure that all waste is recycled or disposed of in the most environmentally conscious way. CDI takes the disposed equipment, breaks it down, and recycles or reuses the parts. This process results in a close to 0% landfill rate. To help encourage participation, CDI gave away a free notebook computer to the district with the highest weight in recycled equipment. This year's winner was the Northern Rhode Island Collaborative, which recycled over 5,000 pounds of waste.
