By providing refurbished notebook computers A laptop computer that weighs in a range from five to seven pounds. The term originated when laptops were routinely more than 10 pounds, and those that became lighter were placed in a special "notebook" category. In practice, notebook computer and laptop computer are synonymous.  with its Computers on Wheels (COWs) cart, CDI is not just allowing one set of notebooks to cover multiple classrooms. The company is also helping school districts reduce the cost of filling the cart by as much as 66 percent over purchasing new units, while simplifying the purchasing process Purchasing Purchasing is the formal process of buying goods and services.

The Purchasing Process can vary from one organization to another but there are some key elements that are common throughout

The process usually starts with a 'Demand' or requirements

CDI's COWs is a lockable cabinet with a built-in wireless Internet hub that includes 16, 24, 32, or 48 notebook computers, depending on the model selected. Each of the notebooks is completely refurbished in CDI's internal facility and is certified See certification.  that it meets or exceeds the manufacturer's original specifications. Only units which are capable of running current office document and educational software are included with the COWs cart. In addition, customers can select makes and models from a variety of manufacturers, even mixing and matching if they choose, rather than having to accept whatever the manufacturer wants to stock in the cart.

"Our customers are school districts that are looking to get the most for every dollar they invest in technology," says Saar Pikar, National Sales Manager sales manager ngerente m/f de ventas

at CDI. "Including refurbished notebooks in our COWs simplifies the purchasing process while giving them two to three times as many computers as they could purchase new. With that, plus the ability to cover multiple classrooms with a single set of computers, schools may be getting as much as eight classrooms' worth of notebooks for close to the price of one new set. In these budget-challenged times, it's a great way to meet both educational and fiscal responsibilities."

The COWs cart is manufactured using heavy 14-gauge steel to stand up to the constant bumps and bangs that occur when rolling a cart through school halls. Each notebook slot has a foam lining which helps further cushion the components within, protecting them from anything short of the cart being pushed down the stairs Adv. 1. down the stairs - on a floor below; "the tenants live downstairs"

COWs can also be easily anchored to a permanent fixture in the building, preventing unauthorized personnel from removing the entire cart from school grounds. All notebooks included with COWs come with a one year warranty from CDI.

"Technology in the classroom isn't nice to have, it's really a must-have these days," says Pikar. "Students going on to higher education higher education
