The new office, along with the appointment of native German account executives and systems engineers, demonstrates a dedication to the EMEA region and reveals the momentum that CDC is building around its penetration of the European market. CDC now has offices in Germany, the United Kingdom and the USA. An office in Japan is scheduled to open in June 2003.

This expansion into the Germanic region, which is the third largest life sciences market after the USA and Japan, is part of CDC's continued commitment to offer regional customer support to its growing base of European clients.

CDC reported a 74 percent revenue growth in Europe for FY 2002 with software revenues four times higher than that of its nearest competitor, clearly demonstrating the need to continue its European growth through its commitment to the German market, which is a growing base for biotechnology companies.

CDC includes among its European clients, Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Pierre Fabre, Laboratoires Fournier, Roche Diagnostics GMBH, RatioPharm, Leo Pharmaceuticals, and Novo Nordisk. This takes the total number of CDC's European license customers to 52 among life sciences companies.

This European expansion comes only weeks after CDC published the results of its survey, Regulatory Submissions Trends 2002, which targeted thousands of professionals in the life sciences sector across Europe and the USA.

The survey was commissioned by CDC Solutions in October 2002 to provide a balanced perspective into how regulatory departments are using technology today and how they plan to harness technology in the future.

The survey highlighted that while only seven percent of respondents were using a completely electronic submissions solution that nearly 60 percent plan to increase their use of regulatory submissions software, 20 percent of which said they would do so in 2003.

CDC now looks forward to strengthening its commitment to the German market by localizing efforts to develop the best possible regulatory solutions for the German market.
