 Small Business Finance Corp has been awarded the First Annual New Markets Lending Award for Region IX of the U.S. Small Business Administration, which includes California, Arizona, Nevada and Hawaii.

George Chandler (June 30, 1898 - June 10, 1985) was an American actor best known for playing the character of "Uncle Petrie" on the television series
 at the 2000 Tribute to Small & Emerging Business Awards Luncheon in San Diego.

The award was based on CDC's ongoing commitment to new market lending. The SBA defines this category as follows: "Small businesses located in low and moderate income urban and rural areas, and current and prospective small businesses owned by minorities, women or veterans, who are underrepresented un·der·rep·re·sent·ed
