CD reviews; YOUNG REVIEWERS 2008/09.Byline: KIRSTY SMITH ROGUE WAVE rogue wave n. An unpredictable, abnormally large wave that occurs on a seemingly random basis in the oceans. : ASLEEP AT HEAVEN'S GATE At Heaven's Gate is the second novel by Robert Penn Warren. First published in 1943, it was reprinted in New York by New Directions Publishing Corporation in 1985 with ISBN 0-8112-0933-4 Plot At Heaven's Gate Rogue Wave have gained a steady fan base since the release of their debut album Out Of The Shadow in 2004. They are known for their music over their image. Asleep At Heaven's Gate brings together themes such as suicide, self-doubt, greed and destruction, yet manages to preserve an uplifting feel. As the themes dictate, this should be an album of self-pity, but elation elation /ela·tion/ (e-la´shun) emotional excitement marked by acceleration of mental and bodily activity, with extreme joy and an overly optimistic attitude. conquers all. If this is the feel of a new band, then the new band are great. Rogue Wave estimated they used about 150 different musical instruments to produce the album, all of which come together nicely, producing smooth melodies with that something extra to make this different from all the other indie-pop artists out there. I can imagine Rogue Wave being fantastic live. Buy Asleep At Heaven's Gate for a feel-good vibe, excellent instrumentals and abstract melodies |
