CCTV footage studied as city centre bus tragedy victim named.

THE woman who was tragically killed by a bus in the city last week has been named.

Michelle Marian Williams, who lived with her partner in Hunts Cross, would have been celebrating her 28th birthday this coming Saturday.

A clerk at Arrowe Park Hospital, Wirral, she died as she made her way home, crossing Dale Street on her way to Moorfields Station.

At the opening of her inquest yesterday, the court heard how the one eye-witness who had seen the collision saw Michelle going between two buses before she disappeared out of sight.

The tragedy happened at 5.10pm outside the Spar on Dale Street, close to the traffic lights.

Fire crews used air bags to free Michelle from under the bus, but she was pronounced dead at the scene at 5.23pm.

Bunches of flowers and an LFC scarf have continued being laid at the scene over the weekend.

One tribute reads: "I will always love you so, so much babe" another reads: "Sweet dreams dear Michelle, you are never far away."

Liverpool Coroner Andre Rebello heard that CCTV footage was supportive of the driver, who had no chance to avoid the collision.

Merseyside Police are continuing their investigation and are interviewing the bus driver.

Mr Rebello has called for all CCTV along the length of Dale Street to be examined.

He also wants cameras on the bus and neighbouring buses to be viewed.

He released Michelle's body to her parents in Wirral for the funeral.

The inquest was adjourned until 26 November.
