CCODP donates $140,000 to counter Summit.Vancouver--On the heels of the revelation of its $135,000 donation to the World March of Women-2000 event last year, comes the news of a Catholic Development and Peace donation of $140,000 to the People's Summit of the Americas The Summit of the Americas is the name for one of a sequence of summits bringing together the countries of the Americas for discussion of a variety of issues. These encounters are organized by a number of multilateral bodies led by the Organization of American States. held in Quebec City in opposition to the Summit leaders of North and South America discussing free trade held in Quebec City at the same time. The CCODP CCODP Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace , Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace, is an instrument of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB CCCB Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops CCCB Central Christian College of the Bible (Missouri) CCCB Center of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (Barcelona, Spain) CCCB Child Care Choices of Boston ). It collects money for the world's poor during the Lenten season. The parallel "people's" summit consisted of a hodge-podge of groups who all oppose the "globalization globalization Process by which the experience of everyday life, marked by the diffusion of commodities and ideas, is becoming standardized around the world.
