CBS MAY DELAY REVAMPED `MORNING'.

Byline: Daily News Wire Services

Don't be surprised if, at some point in the coming weeks, CBS (Cell Broadcast Service) See cell broadcast.  says it's going to delay the launch of its revamped version of ``This Morning'' at least a week, back to Aug. 12.

(We'll pause a moment while conspiracy theorists develop stories about a network news program in trouble.)

Time's up. In reality, there isn't any trouble, but there is a minor scheduling problem.

Seems that before announcing Aug. 5 as the launch date for the new version of the morning show, with its new format and players, CBS suits failed to notice that the date fell at the end of the July sweeps, a quarterly ratings period used by local stations to set advertising rates.

On a national level, where, of course, network suits operate, the July sweeps period is a mere blip on the radar screen. But on the local level, the summer session is something of a big deal. So instead of forcing stations to deal with the launch of a show at such a semi-important time, CBS is set to shift the debut.
