CBS FALL LINEUP OFFERS VIEWERS AN 'EDUCATION'.

At its presentation for advertisers Wednesday in New York, CBS introduced the series from which it anticipates the greatest returns, ``The Education of Max Bickford,'' starring Richard Dreyfuss. He plays a college professor who is passed over for a promotion that goes to a former student with whom he had an affair (Marcia Gay Harden Marcia Gay Harden (born August 14, 1959) is an Academy Award-winning American actress. The drama has been given one of the network's plum time slots - 8 p.m. Sundays, following ``60 Minutes.'' The slot's former inhabitant INHABITANT. One who has his domicil in a place is an inhabitant of that place; one who has an actual fixed residence in a place.

CBS' new sitcoms will air on Fridays. At 8 p.m. is ``The Ellen Show,'' starring Ellen DeGeneres as a dot-goner who returns to her hometown. Cloris Leachman plays her eccentric mother; Jim Gaffigan (``Welcome to New York'') plays the high-school sweetheart who apparently doesn't read Time magazine and believes he still has a chance with her. Following that is ``American Wreck,'' a comic twist on the canceled drama ``Kate Brasher'' starring Daniel Stern as a single father who runs a community center.

In addition to ``Survivor: Africa,'' CBS is adding to its Wednesday lineup the previously announced reality series ``The Amazing Race,'' a competition taking 11 different teams around the world.

Six of CBS' eight new shows are produced, at least in part, by Viacom, which owns CBS, in an effort to avoid contentious negotiations with outside studios.

Only the network's strong Monday night lineup, anchored by the ever- popular ``Everybody Loves Raymond Everybody Loves Raymond is an American sitcom originally broadcast on CBS from 1996 to 2005. It is one of the most critically acclaimed American sitcoms of its time. ,'' remained unchanged.

Miniseries and TV films announced include a live-action version of ``Jack and the Beanstalk'' starring Matthew Modine; ``Talking to Heaven,'' a four-hour variation on ``The Sixth Sense'' starring Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen; ``Salem Witches,'' with Kirstie Alley and Shirley MacLaine; and Angela Bassett assuming the title role of the civil-rights pioneer in ``The Rosa Parks Story.''

Among the canceled series: ``The Fugitive,'' ``Diagnosis: Murder,'' ``Kate Brasher,'' ``Nash Bridges'' and the previously announced ``Walker, Texas Ranger Walker, Texas Ranger is an American television western/police dramatic series, created by Leslie Greif and Paul Haggis. It aired on CBS for eight seasons, from April 21 1993 to May 19 2001, and was broadcast in over 100 countries. .''
