CBS ANCHOR RATHER TAKES A LICKING, KEEPS ON TICKING.Byline: Marilyn Beck & Stacy Jenel Smith Dan Rather wouldn't be surprised if CBS (Cell Broadcast Service) See cell broadcast. chieftain Les Moonves asks for an additional ``48 Hours'' each week later this year, and says that would suit him just fine. ``I'd certainly be ready to do it.'' As it is, he's soon going to be on the air nine times a week this summer. He has the nightly night·ly adj. 1. Of or occurring during the night; nocturnal: the cat's nightly prowl. 2. Happening or done every night: the physician's nightly rounds. ``CBS Evening News CBS Evening News is the flagship nightly television news program of the American television network CBS. Come next month, there will also be ``48 Hours Adventures'' on Tuesday nights. (The latter two programs spice spice, aromatic vegetable product used as a flavoring or condiment. All this is in addition to Rather's daily radio show - and his actively beating the drum for his latest book, ``Deadlines and Datelines,'' for the last few weeks. Reminded of a journalist's comment that ``... whether Rather is spread too thin is an open question at CBS,'' the 67-year-old broadcaster responds, ``It's an open question only in the writer's mind. No one at CBS has expressed such sentiments to me - our competitors are not above spreading such things - but any time my network wants me to do less, I'll be glad to. Until then, well, I find time for what I like, and I like the news and like to work.'' Rehearsals pay off Paul Sorvino, who directed Showtime's production of ``That Championship Season'' that aired this month, is in discussions with the cable company about future prospects he'd direct and in which he'd star. No wonder, considering he was able to bring in the ``Championship'' production ``in 20 days - on schedule and $100,000 under budget.'' He credits rehearsal - lots and lots of rehearsal - for that. He got Gary Sinise and the rest of his ``Championship'' castmates to rehearse re·hearse v. re·hearsed, re·hears·ing, re·hears·es v.tr. 1. a. Sorvino co-starred on stage in Jason Miller's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama - and in the 1982 feature version, which was widely panned. ``With the movie, because we had almost no rehearsal at all, and because (Robert) Mitchum was ill, we never could pull it together,'' he says now. Model advice Supermodel Rebecca Romijn-Stamos says the best advice she can offer any young woman swept into the world of modeling is ``to graduate at least from high school, treat modeling like it's a business, don't take yourself too seriously ... and practice common sense. If you've got to work in the morning, don't go out at night. If you're tired, go to sleep. And if you're hungry, eat a meal!'' Romijn-Stamos, currently on the big-screen in ``Austin Powers 2,'' will host ``Fashionably Loud Miami'' in November. The show will be the culmination of the ``Fashionably Loud Model Mission '99'' model search being held by MTV's House of Style, which is also hosted by Romijn-Stamos. She says that for the contest, which began June 12, they're ``trying to hit places that are out of the way, rather than New York New York, state, United States New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States.
