(the "Company") (Nasdaq: CBRL) today announced that it has been authorized by its Board of Directors to repurchase up to 2 million additional shares of its common stock. Such repurchases are expected to be made from time to time in open market transactions. The Company had approximately 48.7 million shares outstanding at the end of its third fiscal quarter on April 30, 2004. The Company has 892,000 shares remaining under its previous 2 million share repurchase Share Repurchase A program by which a company buys back its own shares from the marketplace, reducing the number of outstanding shares.
