CBRE inks Madison Ave. HQ deal with sports giant.


Sport Brands International, the parent company of Italian athletic brand, FILA fila /fi·la/ (fi´lah) [L.] plural of filum.

, has leased 29,000 square feet of office and 4,087 square feet of retail space at 340 Madison Avenue Madison Avenue, celebrated street of Manhattan, borough of New York City. It runs from Madison Square (23d St.) to the Madison Bridge over the Harlem River (138th St.). In the 1940s and 50s, some of the major U.S. . FILA, one of the world's leading sports brands will occupy the entire third floor of the Class A office property as well as prime, ground floor retail space.

Tara Stacom of Cushman & Wakefield acted for the building ownership, Macklowe Properties.

The office space, which will serve as the global headquarters for Sport Brands International, will be designed by The Phillips Group. FILA has tapped architect Giorgio Borruso to design the retail store scheduled to open this summer. The store will be FILA's first specialty store to showcase the company's new apparel, footwear and accessories collections.

"As the parent company of one of the world's most recognized and acclaimed brands of performance footwear and apparel, Sport Brands International required space that could be retrofitted to meet their needs," said Mr. Gibson.

"After analyzing several space alternatives throughout Midtown Manhattan, we identified 340 Madison as the ideal location to serve as Sport Brands International global headquarters and FILA's retail store location."
