Bonita Lakes Mall will be anchored by Dillard's, JCPenney, McRae's and Sears. The 800,000-square foot regional mall will also contain, among others, a United Artists Theater and Luby's Cafeteria. "We have long-term relationships with each of these nationally known mall merchants," stated Charles B. Lebovitz, CBL's chairman, president and chief executive officer, "and are delighted that each has made their commitment to our newest regional mall. Our plans for Bonita Lakes Mall are to commence site work as soon as conditions permit. The grand opening of this new retailing complex is scheduled for the fall of 1997." Bonita Lakes Mall will be developed on a 100-acre site located in the southeast quadrant of the intersection of Interstate 59 and U.S. Highway 19. Plans also include a food court and peripheral property for freestanding businesses along the outer perimeter The Outer Perimeter was an expressway originally planned to encircle Atlanta about 20-to-25 miles further away from the city than the existing Perimeter Highway (I-285). The original plan of the highway would have roughly gone through or near the communities of Cartersville, of the mall.
