OLYMPIC cycling mastermind David Brailsford has added a CBE to his glittering list of honours David, 45, raised in Deiniolen, Gwynedd, and whose mum Barbara still lives there, received the honour for his efforts as performance director in leading the team at last year's Olympics and World championships.

He has already been named as the BBC Sport's Coach of the Year.

THIS Read exclusive with David in the After collecting his CBE, David, who now lives near Nottingham, said: "For me, it is good because I have been able to bring Millie, my four-year-old daughter. It has been very important for her to come and see the Queen's house and where all the princesses live."

His father John made a special trip from France for the ceremony, which was also watched by his partner Lisa.

As a former competitive cyclist in France and a graduate of Sheffield business school, Brailsford has been able to combine his sporting knowledge to build a stunningly successful squad which captured eight gold, four silver and two bronze medals at the Beijing Games.

He said: "From my point of view, I'm only here because of the rest of the squad, the office staff, the coaches and the senior management team at British cycling.

Olympic champion Chris Hoy.

Sir Chris, 33, said: "An accolade like this is completely unexpected and such an amazing honour when it does come along."

Bradley Wiggins, 29, received a CBE while Jason Kenny, 21, was awarded an MBE.
