Companhia Brasileira de Estireno (CBE) recently selected CRI Catalyst Company's FlexiCat Blue catalyst, FlexiCat Gold HS catalyst, IronCat catalyst and CATSCAN(R) catalyst performance modeling system.

Both the catalyst and CATSCAN will help CBE increase the profitable production of approximately 120 kilotons of styrene annually.

The agreement includes the installation of CRI's catalyst and the CATSCAN system as part of CRI's technical performance package.

CATSCAN uses proprietary models of catalyst performance, real-time reactor information and periodic lab results to continuously predict catalyst performance and lifecycle. CATSCAN's conversion calculation engine allows users to simulate the conversion outcome based upon different input conditions. These features enable CATSCAN's operators to monitor catalyst activity, selectivity and conversion, as well as track other key process variables that affect catalyst performance. CATSCAN also allows users to run different "what-if" scenarios to determine the optimal operating conditions to achieve a given production target.
