CBA sunset extension includes major changes.


The California Board of Accountancy made some major gains during the 2004 legislative session. Highlights of bills considered likely to be signed by the Governor included:

AB 2150 (Levine), Cost Recovery, expands the CBA's authority to request cost recovery for any violation of the Accountancy Act.

SB 1543 (Figueroa), Fining Authority and Regulation of Interstate in·ter·state

* Postpones mandatory peer reviews for firms of more than four partners until July 1, 2008;

Under Workers' Compensation statutes, a risk is deemed incidental to employment when it is related to whatever a
 practice in California; and

* Requires CPAs to provide written disclosures prior to sharing confidential client info.
