CAW TARGETS CHRYSLER

TORONTO, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The Canadian Auto Workers union announced today that Chrysler (NYSE: C) will be the target company in this year's major auto negotiations. "Chrysler is the success story of the 1990s in the auto industry in North America," said Buzz Hargrove, CAW president.
"There is major demand in the marketplace for Chrysler products," he said. "They can't build enough LH cars in Bramalea to meet demand and mini and maxi vans are extremely popular."
The company's profits in Canada have been substantial for the last several years.
"I have full confidence that Chrysler workers and other sectors of our union will fully support this bargaining team."
"We will work around the clock until the 14th of September to get an agreement. Chrysler should not underestimate our union's determination to achieve the priorities of our union," concluded Hargrove.
Major issues in this round of negotiations include pensions, wages, reduced work time and income security.
