spokesman Charles Blair, Lanette Ziesch, 32, was driving her minivan north on Sierra Highway, just south of Davenport Road, at 9:20 p.m. when the van drifted onto the right shoulder.

CHP Officer Bob Weaver said the woman apparently overcorrected and drove the van into oncoming traffic, crashing into a pickup truck driven by Nicholas Zorba of Agua Dulce.

Both vehicles were traveling about 50 mph, Weaver said. ``No one was speeding and we've ruled out alcohol so we are still investigating what caused the collision,'' Blair said.

Zorba was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia. Hospital officials did not release details of the man's condition. However, Blair said Zorba suffered major injuries during the collision.

Weaver said three animals, including a bird, were in the minivan and survived the crash. Investigators did not immediately know whether the animals played a role in the collision. They were taken by the Animal Control Department.
