CATTLEMAN'S OPENS NEW STORE IN FARMINGTON

DETROIT, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Cattleman's (OTC Bulletin Board: CTLO.U), one of Michigan's largest beef processing companies, will open a combination meat and produce store in Farmington, Mich., Thursday, Nov. 4.
The store is Cattleman's first new unit since the recent merger with Oak Farms Fruit Markets. Oak Farms previously operated a fruit and vegetable store at the location.
The newly refurbished 19,000-square-foot facility on Grand River just north of Orchard Lake Road will employ about 60 people.
The store features a 5,000-square-foot meat locker in which consumers can select traditional packaged retail meat or large "packing house cuts" of meat which a Cattleman's butcher will cut according to the customer's request.
David Rohtbart, Cattleman's president and chief executive officer, said the store is part of the company's strategic expansion plans.
"We have another unit planned for the east-side suburbs of Detroit," said Rohtbart. "Our combination stores respond to the demands of consumers for value in all of their food purchases. Our walk-in meat lockers, we believe, are particularly attractive for modern-day consumers."
Cattleman's other four stores are located in Oak Park, Detroit, Hamtramck and Taylor.
Cattleman's, which had sales of $134.4 million in fiscal 1993, is traded on the Electronic Bulletin Board.
