CHECK CAT 5 CABLING for opens, shorts, reversals, wrong wiring and
split pairs with the LanRover Cat5 Cable Tester A cable tester is an electronic device used to verify the electrical connections in a cable or other wired assembly. Generally a cable tester consists of: - A source of electrical current,
- A volt meter,
. When a connection from
the main unit to the remote is sensed, testing begins automatically. The
LED for each pair indicates "on" for a good pair,
"off" for an open pair and "flashing" for a bad
pair. Indicators appear on the main unit and remote; if a bad pair is
detected, one or more of the fault LEDs will flash to indicate the type
of fault. Pairs are stepped through one at a time to display connection
and fault information on a pair-by-pair basis. A quick press of a button
will induce a tone on all pairs, with subsequent presses causing a tone
on one pair, advancing to the next pair. STP STP or standard temperature and pressure, standard conditions for measurement of the properties of matter. The standard temperature is the freezing point of pure water, 0°C; or 273.15°K;. and UTP UTP (uridine triphosphate): see uracil.
