``They put out ads and make phone calls and see who may be interested all up and down the state,'' said school board member Greg GREG Great Egg Harbor National Scenic and Recreational River (US National Park Service)  Ferrier. ``They will present the eight best applicants to the board for interview.''

Al Sandrini, a former superintendent in Bakersfield, was among four consultants considered by the school board, which made its decision during a special board meeting Tuesday night.

``He wasn't the most expensive and he wasn't the least,'' Ferrier said. ``But the board thought they would get the most bang for the buck Buck

The school board plans to work with the community in its search.

In the next few weeks, the board is expected to host a meeting with community members and survey what qualities and attributes they would like to see in the next superintendent.

``For a long time, it was the perception of the community that the school district was not responsive,'' Ferrier said. ``We want community participation. They are stakeholders Stakeholders
